Meerjan Fort

Mirjan fort is located at Mirjan in Kumta taluk of Uttara Kannada district. 9 km from Gokarna. m away it was built by Rani Channa Bairadevi in ​​the 16th century. It can be seen from history that Rani Chennabairadevi was built between 1608-1640. Spread over 11.5 acres. It is built of red stones. The fort has four gates, a wide rampart, a main gate, a hidden gate, nine wells, and a Durbar hall. It is on the banks of the Aghanashini River and the Arabian Sea can be seen beyond it. Surrounded by lush greenery, this fort attracts tourists. One can come here in all months of the year. It is 450 km away from Bangalore. This fort was built for trade and export of beef. Pepper was collected in these forts and transported by sea to the Portuguese in Europe. This fort is similar to the construction of Bekal fort.
