Madikeri

Madikeri is an important taluk and district headquarters of Kodagu district. Around 1981, he shifted his capital from Haveri to Madikeri and began to conquer Kodagan. Madikeri was then also known as Muddu Raja Keri. This place later got the name Madikeri. As the town was built on the hill of Moradi, it was called “Keri of Moradi”. Madikeri is home to Bettagudda Coffee, paddy plains and several tourist destinations. The origin of Cauvery is at Talakavery near Madikeri. Madikeri Dussehra is very popular in Madikeri where people of all religions gather. Madikeri is also known as the ‘Kashmir of Karnataka’.
