Bhagandala is about 33 km from Madikeri district headquarters. Bhagamandal, the source of Cauvery, is 8 km by road and 5 km by foot from Talakavery. m away. Kaveri reaches Bhagamandala as Guptagamini and joins 2 tributaries Kannike and Sujyoti which is called Triveni Sangam. For this reason Bhagamandala is also known as Dakshina Prayag Kshetra. During 1785-1790 the said land was invaded by Tipu Sultan. He renamed Bhagamandal as ‘Apsalabad’ and in 1790 the great hero Rajendra Raja reclaimed Bhagamandal within an independent Kodagu State.
