Amshi Wildlife Sanctuary
It is a national park located in Dandeli, Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. This sanctuary covers 6 different forest areas on the border of Goa and Maharashtra and covers an area of 220 sq km. 60 km from Karawar. Amshi is a small region of Uttara Kannada situated on the banks of river Kali. It belongs to Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary. Various species of trees can be found in this forest. To go to this forest we have to get permission from the forest department, they will take us in the vehicles of the forest department. Only 3 batches are released per day to go to the safari area. Driving on a dirt road in the middle of the forest is a sweet moment. Permission should be obtained from the forest department to take photos. A fixed fee is charged for this. One can see different species of birds, blackbirds, elephants, deer etc. Animals and birds can be seen very close. Park the vehicles 1 to 2 km. You can walk and view the hills. Peacock, wild boar, bison etc. various animals roam freely.
