Sintheri Rocks


This place can be found in Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary of Uttara Kannada District. Bangalore to Dandeli is 7.5 hours, 462 km away. Sinderi Hill is a 300 feet high monolith of granite situated on the banks of river Kaneri, a tributary of Kalinadi. Sintheri Rocks timings are from 8.30 am to 5 pm. The entrance fee to go here is 50 rupees for adults and 25 rupees for children. There is also a parking facility. A sweet moment is walking on a dirt road in the middle of forests. One can go down the stairs to get to know the features on the rocks. It is named Syntheri Rocks because it was first discovered by a British-born Syntheri. If it is difficult to climb the stairs, you can go on foot. As it is a forest area, the gates are closed at 6 pm. Swimming here is dangerous. It is a weathered rock composed of black rocks. Sintheri Rocks were formed by the Kaneri river. It has beehives and birds live by building nests. There are caves here and there which are very interesting to see.
