Sahasra Linga

It is 20 km away from Shirasi Taluk of Uttara Kannada District. You can come through Yallapur Road. Thousands of lingams are carved here. There are thousands of Shiva lingams in Shalmala river with river idols carved in front of each Shiva lingam. By coming here during Shivratri and bathing in the river and doing poja, all our sins will be reduced. There is a suspension bridge built across the Shala La river. Only 20-25 people can go on this suspension bridge. Since there are no hotels of any kind in Sahasra Linga, food and accommodation arrangements have to be made in Shirsi. Sahasralingas are carved out of rocks. Lord Ganpati idols can be found here. There are arrangements for parking the vehicles before going near Shalmala river. Every day these lingams are anointed with the water of river Shalmala.
