Banavasi

Banavasi is located in Shirasi Taluk of Uttara Kannada District. Banavasi is about 20 km on the way from Shirasi to Soraba. m apart. Madhukeshwar Temple is also a sightseeing and historical place in Banavasi.There is bus service from Shirsi to Banavasi. Pampa, the progenitor of Kannada, wrote his poetry here. The Halmidi inscription is also the first inscription found in Kannada during the Kadamba reign. The Madhukeshwar Temple was built by the Kandabars. We can see the most beautiful Vastu architect. A 5-headed cobra idol can be seen in this temple.
