Uttara Kannada

Uttara Kannada is also a district of Karnataka which is a coastal district of Karnataka. It is also the largest district of Karnataka and has 12 taluks namely Ankola, Kumata, Karwar, Shirsi, Siddapur, Joida, Mundagoda, Haliyala, Dandeli, Honyavara, Bhatkal and Yallapur. Uttara Kannada became part of the Mysore kingdom in the 18th century under the rule of Hyderali and Tipu Sultan. Goa shares its borders with Belgaum, Dharwad, Shimoga and Udupi districts. In Uttara Kannada there are mostly people who speak Kannada language. Popular for Yakshagana, this district contains several sightseeing spots.
