Golden Temple

The Golden Temple can be found at Kushalanagar in Kodagu which belongs to Mysore district. About 40 Km from Madikeri is Bailu Guppey, a refugee site of a mini Tibetan community. The main attraction is the Golvan temple at Bailu Kuppe. This temple is built according to the traditions of Tibet. Three golden statues of 40 feet height can be seen in Svarmandir. The walls of the temple are painted with oil paintings. There are three main idols and the middle Buddha idol is about 60 feet tall. Side by side are Padma Sambhava and Amitayusha idols 58 tall, made of copper plating. The remains of the Buddha are placed inside it and objects that express the presence of the Buddha are worshiped daily. Puja is performed twice a day for silver and in the evening. Images of his 14 Gurus have been created inside the Golden Temple. Tibetans get their education through the Alley Gurukula system.
